Assistant Pool Manager

Position: Assistant Pool Manager

Pay Range: $16.50 - $18

 

General:                    

Under the general supervision of the Pool Manager, assists in the supervision of all Lifeguards, and concessions, maintains order, and prevents dangerous and life-threatening behavior in and around the swimming pool.  Assists the Pool Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Municipal Pool.     

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·           Assists the Pool Manager in the supervision of pool staff including lifeguards, concession, maintenance, and swim instructors

·           Assists in organizing the Learn to Swim program including registration, assigning instructors and aides, providing class lists, preparing American Red Cross cards, and submitting all required forms to the Red Cross

·           Assists in the scheduling of pool staff ensuring that all programs are staffed and supervised

·           Assists Pool Manager in the verification of Lifeguard qualifications and inspection of life-saving equipment

·           In the absence of the Pool Manager, collects all monies for the pool, submits daily cash reports, and accurately prepares bank deposit

·           Assists Pool Manager with inventory records of pool supplies and concessions and places orders in accordance with City purchasing policies

·           Ensures that all pool staff adhere to all pool and safety policies

·           Maintains good public relations with staff, program participants and the community

·           Performs other related duties as assigned by the City Manager or City Clerk, and Pool Manager

 

Responsibilities:

 ·         Ensures that all duties listed previously are performed efficiently and properly

·         Responsible for maintaining a positive and problem-solving atmosphere and clearly assesses and completes all assigned tasks

·         Responsible for cooperating with supervisor, other departments, and co-workers with the overall benefit to the City as the primary focus

·         Relates to the public in a professional and courteous manner

·         Responsible for instructing all pool staff on pool policies and procedures necessary to complete assigned tasks through proper training

·         Responsible for conducting regular safety and procedural meetings to supply staff with up-to-date information

·         Responsible for planning, scheduling, and organization of self and pool staff

·         Responsible for exhibiting a positive supervisory role model for all staff

·         Responsible for facility safety including daily safety checks of the swimming area for glass or hazards, debris removal, and swimming equipment (ladders, diving boards, etc.)

·         Responsible for money collection for all programs and concessions, preparation of cash sheets and public attendance records

·         Responsible for inventory of pool supplies, and concessions and ordering replacements or additions

·         Responsible for ensuring proper posting of signage of rules and regulations and pool safety is posted for the safety of employees and the public

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

·           Knowledge of municipal pool rules, regulations, and safety procedures

·           Knowledge of emergency and notification procedures in the event of an accident

·           Knowledge of lifesaving  and CPR techniques

·           Knowledge of and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

·           Ability to exercise good judgement with little to no supervision

·           Ability to interact with the public in a positive and cooperative manner

·           Valid Colorado Driver’s License  

 

Education and Experience:

 ·         High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

·         1 year of work experience preferred

·         Some supervisory experience preferred

·         Must be 18+ years of age

·         Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) desirable

 

Physical Demands:

Work primarily in an outside setting with sitting, standing, and walking required.  Requires the ability to lift and move objects up to 20 lbs. occasionally and consistently move objects. Requires communication with others to exchange information.  Exposure to outside conditions such as heat, rain, and wind.  Exposure to hazardous chemicals and moving equipment.  Working hours include weekends and holidays.
