Florence Municipal Code 17.64.021: Backyard Poultry License

A license issued by the City Manager is required to keep or shelter chickens and ducks within the City of Florence. The backyard poultry license shall be valid for a specific property indefinitely, unless revoked for cause, and shall be non-transferable. The application for license shall be submitted on the form provided, including any supporting information required.

Florence Municipal Code 6.08.020: Animal License- Required when

No person shall keep or maintain animals, backyard poultry, rabbits or fowl within the corporate limits of the City of Florence unless such person has a valid license to do so, and no animals, backyard poultry, rabbits, or fowl shall be allowed to run or fly at will.

Application for a license to keep animals, backyard poultry, rabbits or fowl shall be made in writing to the City Clerk. At the time of application, a fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) shall be paid by the applicant. When issued, the license shall be valid for the applicant only, and for the listed premises, until cancelled by the applicant, or until revoked as herein provided.

Any premises upon which animals, backyard chickens, rabbits, or fowl are kept or maintained on the effective date of this Ordinance No. 9-2012, shall be deemed in violation.

12.24.090 - Defecation by animals

It is unlawful for the owner or custodian of any pet which has defecated in any City park or recreation area to fail to clean up and remove such excrement or feces.

12.24.100 - Restraint of animals

It is unlawful for the owner or custodian of any pet to allow such pet to run free in any City park or recreation area. All pets brought to any park must be kept on a leash not to exceed six (6) feet in length

The issuing agency, its officers, employees, volunteers, and representatives assume no responsibility for the animal or for any injury, damage, or loss caused by the animal. The owner agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the issuing agency and its representatives from any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, or causes of action arising out of or connected with the ownership, care, control, or actions of the animal, including but not limited to injuries to persons, property damage, or violations of local ordinances. The owner further agrees that they will comply with all applicable local, state, and federal animal laws, and understands that failure to do so may result in fines, impoundment, or revocation of the animal license. By signing or submitting this license application, the owner certifies that all information provided is true and accurate and acknowledges acceptance of this waiver of liability.
